LASK vs Man United Europa League fixture status amid coronavirus fears ahead of Tottenham clash

Tottenham return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with Manchester United making their first ever trip to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Losing 3-0 against RB Leipzig on Tuesday evening in the Champions League, the Lilywhites will be keen to bounce back as soon as possible as they bid to finish in the top four.

Jose Mourinho's side will also have the benefit of having a couple of extra days to rest as the Red Devils take on LASK in the Europa League this evening.

Following the news that the game in Austria is to be played behind closed doors due to fears over the coronavirus, many have questioned if the game will even go ahead following the postponement of two Round of 16 ties.

Well, according to the MEN, Manchester United have insisted that tonight's European game is still scheduled to go ahead as planned.

Over the past 24 hours we have seen La Liga come to a halt for at least two weeks, with the NBA season also suspended indefinitely after Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert tested positive for coronavirus.

Amid the real prospect of Premier League games played behind closed doors or even postponed, this weekend's game between Tottenham and Manchester United is still set to go ahead as things stand at present.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked about the coronavirus and the potential ramifications at his pre-match press conference and he opened up on the current situation.

"I would understand, yes, under the circumstances," he told the MEN about the prospect of playing games behind closed doors or even suspending the season.

"Of course it’s up to the experts to decide and the main concern must be the health of the general public and the decision that will be made we will back.

"The players are focused and just concentrating on the job, of course these are difficult circumstances, not just for football but in the whole society.

"For us, we just have to do what we’re told, and get on with the game if that’s what the authorities think we should do.

"They’ve been the same, they’ve prepared for the game as we normally do."

Spurs can close to within one point of the Red Devils in fifth this weekend providing that they win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
