Lasers turn the sky blue as Manchester City prepare for Champions League final

Lasers turned the sky blue ahead of the biggest game in Manchester City's history.

The colourful light show was seen across Manchester on Thursday night, emanating from the Etihad Stadium.

Some joked it looked like an 'alien invasion', and others described it as being 'spectacular'.

City's players were more than 1,200 miles away in Porto, Portugal, where they are preparing to face Chelsea in Saturday's Champions League final.

@cubicgarden tweeted: "Wondering where the lasers/lights are coming from in East #Manchester?

"Its coming from the Manchester City ground, as they test there lights for the champions league final, I hear?

"That or Aliens or Sharks with laser beams :D"

@StevenMcinerney tweeted: "Right. There's either an alien invasion going on, or there are some lasers coming from the direction of the Etihad... what you up to @mancity?"

While @Natalie_Cureton tweeted: "Amazing laser light over Manchester tonight - no idea where they are coming from or what they are for, but they are pretty spectacular!"

City hope to secure their first Champions League crown, while Chelsea will play in their third final having won the tournament once previously, and losing another final to Manchester United in 2008.
