Laser speed checks carried out in three Lothians towns after public complain about drivers

Police have been carrying out laser speed checks on roads in three Lothians towns.

Checks on routes in Gullane, North Berwick and Haddington were conducted after complaints from members of the public about speeding drivers.

According to East Lothian Police, PCs Charlie Duncan and Colin Boyd were out with laser speed guns on Thursday afternoon where they warned a number of drivers for going too fast, and issued two fixed penalty tickets for road traffic offences.

They added: "This was in response to numerous complaints from members of the public about speeding traffic on various roads throughout the county. A number of drivers were warned in line with current road traffic guidelines and two drivers were issued with fixed penalty tickets for road traffic offences."

Edinburgh Live reported earlier this week how several drivers were caught breaking rules by police carrying out speed checks in Longniddry and Gullane. A number of people were given warnings while one person was reported.
