'Lascelles wouldn't do that' - Newcastle United fans react after Michael Keane's error for England

Newcastle United fans are questioning how Jamaal Lascelles has been overlooked for Michael Keane after the defender's howler against Kosovo.

The Everton centre-back gifted the visitors the lead at St Mary's Stadium on Tuesday night after only 35 seconds.

Pressured by the opposition, Keane passed directly to Vedat Muriqi who was able to play Valon Berisha for the opener.

Goals from Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane, Jadon Sancho as well as an own goal have seen Gareth Southgate's side quickly overturn the deficit.

United captain Lascelles has so far been ignored for an international callup, with Southgate's emphasis on his defence playing out from the back often cited as the reason behind this exclusion.

But after Keane's glaring error, many England and Newcastle fans are questioning why the Everton defender has been given the nod ahead of the former Nottingham Forest centre back.
