Larry Ogunjobi ready to ‘take off’ in his third season

Larry Ogunjobi has played some pretty impressive football in his first two seasons. The 2017 third-round pick from Charlotte is ready to take his game to a much higher level in Year 3, thanks in part to hanging in better company.

The Browns added premium free agent Sheldon Richardson to start next to Ogunjobi at defensive tackle. That means Ogunjobi will often align on the Browns defense between Richardson and Myles Garrett. He’s aware of what that role and those great players around him can do for Ogunjobi’s game.

“I really feel like I can take off,” Ogunjobi said via Ohio.com. “Especially with the guys around me.”

Browns practices aren’t the only place where Ogunjobi has been surrounded by greatness. In hopes of learning from the best, Ogunjobi went to Von Miller’s pass rush summit. The Broncos All-Pro gathered some talented pass rushers earlier this offseason to talk shop and work on moves, and Ogunjobi was an enthusiastic participant.

“It was good to meet Von, Aaron Donald, Demarcus Ware, Derek Wolfe,” Ogunjobi stated. “You pick their brains. The biggest part is film study, seeing how these guys study opponents.”

If he can raise his level of play, the Browns defensive front gets even scarier for opponents. Ogunjobi has been good already, a solid starter with some pass rush ability and nice hands to defeat blockers. Being around higher-level peers might be the key to unlocking even more from Ogunjobi in his third season in Cleveland.
