Larry Ogunjobi impressing at Bengals training camp after getting healthy

Larry Ogunjobi has finally arrived at Cincinnati Bengals training camp.

The man tabbed as the possible Geno Atkins replacement worked all the way back from a nagging injury and has finally been on the field ahead of the team’s Week 1 preseason game.

And he’s making waves.

Ogunjobi was disruptive from the three-technique spot in Tuesday’s practice, then did the same again on Wednesday while getting after Joe Burrow.

He says the newish usage by the Bengals lets him wreak even more havoc.

“There are similarities in every defense. I think the difference is just me playing 3 technique instead of nose, so it gives me the ability to use my athleticism and move around,” Ogunjobi said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “I just think it’s a good opportunity. I’m excited for it. I like the scheme, I like how the defense operates. I like the ability to be able to get to rush.”

Like Trey Hendrickson, Ogunjobi is a new piece for the defense that can move all over the line. So far in camp, he’s flashed as a pass-rusher and even against the run. But he’ll likely be best on the interior alongside D.J. Reader, where he can do his best Atkins impression.

If the last two days are a sign of things to come, Ogunjobi can play a key role in 2021.
