It was the 'lush' news everyone was hoping for and involves a return trip to Barry Island.
As revealed yesterday, Gavin and Stacey is on its way back for a Christmas special on BBC One later this year with show creators James Corden and Ruth Jones announcing the news on Twitter.
Now, Larry Lamb, who played Gavin's dad Mick in the much-loved series, has been letting fans on a few, very spearing, details on what to expect.
Starting with how he cried over the first scene when reading the "poignant" script.
Speaking on ITV's This Morning, Larry said: "It's amazing what he and Ruth have managed to do. I've finally read the script and it really ... it got me.
"I just started to read the first little sequence and I just found myself crying. It was like running into somebody that was a major part of your life and you're just so happy about it.

"It didn't really matter what they were doing, it wasn't funny, it wasn't anything, it was just so poignant and they were immediately into the feeling of the whole thing, and it just took me along."
Gavin and Stacey broadcast over three series (plus a Christmas special) from 2007 to 2010 on the BBC, with the last episode on New Year's Day in 2010 being watched by more than 10 million people.
The new special will see Mathew Horne and Joanna Page return to their lead roles as Gavin and Stacey.
Corden and Jones will reprise their roles as Smithy and Nessa, alongside the other supporting cast members - Larry, Rob Brydon, Melanie Walters and Alison Steadman.

Though Larry, 71, did admit the details are "super hush-hush", we do know that one character will be missing.
Welsh actress Margaret John, who played Stacey's hilarious and lovable neighbour Dorris O'Neill, passed away in February 2011.
Fans had already picked up on the stars absence with one tweeting: "The only sad thing about the #GavinandStacey Christmas special is that #dorris won’t be in it."
