Larry Fitzgerald brings up Carson Palmer’s 2015 finger injury

In 2015 when the Arizona Cardinals finished the season 13-3 and made it to the NFC title game, things finished in disappointing fashion and part of that was the play of quarterback Carson Palmer. He injured his right index finger late in the season and wasn’t as sharp after that.

Fans all wondered how serious it was but Palmer downplayed it, saying it didn’t affect anything.

However, recent comments by receiver Larry Fitzgerald suggest maybe fans were right to point to the injury as an issue.

“I remember in ’15 (when he was) playing with an index (finger) dislocation,” he told reporters after practice. “That’s the finger that really controls your accuracy.”

It doesn’t change how things ended but this will make many fans feel vindicated about how they felt after Palmer banged his finger on a helmet. While Palmer would refuse to make excuses, it now seems that it really did affect him and could have contributed to some of his shaky play following the injury.

Of course, the fact he wouldn’t allow anyone to use the finger as an excuse gives yet another example as to why he was loved by his teammates. “He’s one of the toughest players I’ve ever been around,” Fitzgerald said.
