Larry David distrusts Adam Gase because he wears hats

Adam Gase led the Jets to a 7-9 season, their best season since 2015, but Larry David isn't quite ready to tip his cap.

The Seinfeld creator, Curb Your Enthusiasm star and Jets diehard told Michael Kay that Gase's regular hat-wearing indicates the first-year head coach isn't "comfortable with himself."

"When I started doing standup, I wasn't comfortable and I started putting a hat on," David admitted to Kay during a Tuesday appearance on ESPN Radio's host's afternoon talk show.

"It gave me like a different persona, different character _ 'cause I was hiding. That's what (Gase) is doing. He's hiding. Either he's hiding his baldness, or there's something about his personality that he's uncomfortable with."

In order to earn his trust, David urged Gase to "face the public" and get rid of the hat.

David also claims that he told former Jets GM Mike Maccagnan to draft Lamar Jackson in 2018.

"He laughed at me," David said. "But who can blame him? Nobody thought Jackson was gonna do this. Except for the Ravens."

David called Maccagnan's response "condescending."

While passing on Jackson was the wrong move, not taking NFL draft advice from Larry David was the right one. Maybe David can try his luck with the Browns.
