March 22--With Juan Uribe, he of the famous second-to-last-out catch in the 2005 World Series for the White Sox, watching from the other dugout, the Sox made no fewer than six outstanding plays on defense during their 9-4 loss Monday against the Indians at Goodyear Park.
At the plate: Todd Frazier and Melky Cabrera each had two hits, including a solo home run by Cabrera, but the Sox failed to draw a walk and struck out 10 times.
On the mound: Scott Carroll gave up two hits, struck out none, walked none and gave up no runs for the Sox, whose other four pitchers combined to walk seven.
In the field: Austin Jackson robbed Jesus Aguilar of extra bases with a nifty grab in center in the second, an inning that ended with Jose Abreu's clean snag of Will Venable's screamer. Jerry Sands stole another extra-base hit in the fifth with an over-the-shoulder catch in left. Jacob May made a diving catch in right-center in the seventh.
Key number: 2 -- errors made by the White Sox on Monday, including one by third baseman Todd Frazier.
The quote: "He's slightly ahead of where Carlos Rodon was last year." -- pitching coach Don Cooper on Carson Fulmer
