Larne show generosity with Irish Cup gesture to Ballyclare Comrades

Larne showed their generosity with a special Irish Cup gesture to Ballyclare Comrades on Saturday.

The two sides went head-to-head in a sixth round tie at Dixon Park.

It took an extra-time goal from Dean Jarvis to book Larne's place in he quarter-finals.

A healthy crowd watched the East Antrim showdown, with approximately 900 travelling supporters cheering on the Inver Reds to their win.

The Premiership club showed their class after the game, by giving their 50 per cent share of the gate to the Comrades.

The Championship club later tweeted: "We would like to thank @larnefc for the very generous gesture of donating their share of today's gate receipts back to the Comrades."

The gesture was warmly welcomed by Irish League fans.

Neil said on Twitter: "Great gesture by @larnefc. Well done."

Gemma added: "This is the kind of #irishleaguebehaviour we like to see."

Larne now progress to the quarter-finals of the Irish Cup where they will meet Coleraine at Inver Park.
