Larne owner Kenny Bruce says tying manager Tiernan Lynch to a new long term contract is a “fantastic” piece of business by the Inver Park club.
Lynch, who was appointed to the post in the summer of 2017, signed a short one-year extension until the end of next season back in March.
But today Larne confirmed that the Inver Reds boss and assistant manager Seamus Lynch - who is also his brother - have put pen-to-paper on new deals until 2024.
Welcoming the development on Twitter, owner Bruce said: “Fantastic decision by Gareth Clements, the Larne board and Lynch brothers.
“The lads have done a remarkable job and deserve our club offering them many more years to fulfil our potential. Congratulations to everyone involved. #WeAreLarne”
Earlier this week, chairman Gareth Clements hailed Lynch’s impact at Larne who lifted the County Antrim Shield last season and secured European football via the playoffs.
The Shield delivered the Inver Reds their first silverware since the late-1980s, while the Europa Conference League is their first ever campaign in a European competition.
Bala Town and Danish big-hitters Aarhus have both been overcome in the first two rounds of the competition, teeing up Thursday night’s third round date with Pacos de Ferreira in Portugal.
“I look back on the last four games in Europe with serious pride but also a strong sense of vindication for standing by the manager,” Clements told Belfast Live.
“There have been a few times over the last couple of seasons where some supporters have been restless. I’m thinking back to January and February when we were on a bad run.
“A certain section of our support was calling for Tiernan’s head, but that was never part of our thought process, from Kenny (Bruce) down to the board.
“I just think what Tiernan has done in Europe over the past month or so fully justifies and vindicates our decision to back him and his full-time vision for the club.
“We were bullish at the start of this journey in 2017 that one of our aims was securing European football for the first time in the club’s history and Tiernan has helped deliver that.
“What we are experiencing is the stuff of boyhood dreams - Roy of the Rovers stuff - and Tiernan deserves immense credit for playing a massive part in that.”
