Larne incident investigated by police after sudden death of child

Police are investigating the sudden death of an infant in Co Antrim.

The child is believed to be aged under three.

The Air ambulance attended the scene in Magheramorne near Larne shortly after 10am this morning, March 2.

A second child was taken for emergency treatment to the Royal Victoria Hospital , Belfast by helicopter.

The PSNI helicopter is also understood to have been in attendance at the scene.

It is understood the children’s mother, a nurse, is being treated by medical professionals.

She and her husband had moved into the farmhouse property some months ago with their children.

Their home at the end of a country lane overlooking a lough, has been cordoned off by police at both sides of the property.
Forensic experts are expected to the scene.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police and other emergency services are currently at the scene of an incident in the Larne area.

"There are no further details at this stage."
