Larne FC announce departure of five players including Johnny McMurray and Dylan Mottley-Henry

Larne have announced the departure of five players including Johnny McMurray and Dylan Mottley-Henry.

The Inver Reds finished fourth in the Premiership and won the Euro play-off, and also claimed the first senior trophy with the Co Antrim Shield last December.

Manager Tiernan Lynch is starting to reshape his squad ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, which begins next month with. the club's Europa Conference League qualifiers.

Larne have confirmed that Mottley-Henry, McMurray, Conor Mitchell, Ben Tilney and Luke Wade Slater are all set to depart.

Tilney signed in the summer of 2018 and helped the club win the Championship and earn promotion to the top flight. The midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at Portadown, and has already secured a move to Carrick Rangers for next season.

Goalkeeper Mitchell played the final 14 games of last season following an injury to Conor Devlin, while striker McMurray's time at Inver was interrupted by an ACL injury picked in January 2020.

Slater arrived last summer after leaving Bohemians, while Mottley-Henry arrived at the club on deadline day in the January 2021 window.

“I’ve said it before, but it’s one of the more difficult aspects of my job when players move on," Lynch told the club's website.

“I want to thank all five for the contribution they’ve made during their time at the club, whether that has been over the last few months or last few years.

“This has been a memorable season for the club on a number of fronts and they have all played a part in that. I’ve no doubt they will go on and do well wherever they end up next.”
