Larne announce new extended contract for defender Tomas Cosgrove

Tomas Cosgrove has signed a new contract with Larne.

The Inver Park club announced on Saturday that Cosgrove has put pen-to-paper on a two-year extension.

The 27-year-old defender was due to come out of contract this summer but has now agreed a deal that will take him to the end of the 2021/22 season.

Cosgrove signed for Larne in the summer of 2018 from Cliftonville and helped the club win the Championship title in his first season.

“Tomas is a very important player for us and we are delighted that he will be continue to be a Larne player on a long-term basis," Larne boss Tiernan Lynch told the club's website.

“As we continue to strengthen and move forward on this journey it is important we build around the quality players who are already at the club.

“Tomas very much fits into the category and we are really pleased that he has confidence in what we are doing here on a daily basis.

“We know there has been interest shown from other clubs, but Tomas has very much bought into the vision of where want to go.

“I’m absolutely delighted as I believe Tomas is the best right back in the country and with more full-time training and coaching, he will only get better.”

Larne take on Glenavon at Inver Park in a 5.30pm kick-off in the Premiership today.
