Larne and Ballymena Utd squads to self-isolate after Covid cases

Players and officials from Larne and Ballymena United have been told to self-isolate until January 13.

It comes after two cases of Covid-19 were reported "within individuals" on the field during last Saturday's game between the sides.

It means this weekend's big provincial derby between Ballymena Unted and Coleraine and Larne's trip to Carrick Rangers have both been postponed in line with NI Football League Covid Case Policy.

Ballymena's game against Glenavon on January 12 is also off.

As a result, Carrick will now play Coleraine this weekend in a rearranged fixture.

The NI Football League said in a statement: "Ballymena United v Coleraine and Carrick Rangers v Larne (both Saturday 9 January) are now off. In addition Glenavon v Ballymena United (Tuesday 12 January) is also postponed.

"The postponements have been requested and confirmed in line with the NI Football League's Covid Case Policy.

"As a result, Carrick Rangers will now play Coleraine on Saturday 9 January (kick-off: 3pm) in a rescheduled Premiership fixture."
