Larkhall offender admitted spitting on and trying to bite a police officer

A Larkhall offender who got into more trouble after being freed early from prison has been sent back to jail for 18 months.

James Ayres, 28, of Shawlands Crescent, was sentenced at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

He admitted spitting on and trying to bite a police officer and attempting to spit on a second officer.

The court heard Ayres became aggressive at University Hospital Wishaw on November 29. He was on bail at the time.

He also admitted failing to provide a specimen of urine at Motherwell police station, but his not guilty plea to a charge of driving dangerously in Bellshill was accepted.
