A Larkhall pensioner has become the talk of the town after growing an 9ft thistle in her garden.
Green-fingered May Mackie was delighted that the thistle at her Hamilton Road home is now the tallest it has ever been.
The 92-year-old said that people have been stopping their cars on the street to take a look at her pride and joy.
May said: “A lot of people who drive by have been stopping and having a look.
“I think this is the tallest one I have ever grown. It’s roughly around 9 feet tall!”
And May is no stranger to growing large plants as last year she had grown six foot sunflowers which were still standing tall in October.
