Larkhall man is tagged after incidents

A Larkhall man admitted domestic abuse charges when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.

John Rodger, 28, of Loanlea Crescent, was placed under supervision for 18 months.

Sheriff Vincent Smith also imposed an electronic tag which bans him from leaving the house between 7pm and 7am each day for the next four months.

Rodger admitted kicking partner Amy Gemmell and grabbing her by the hair at a house in Antrim Lane, Larkhall, on December 8.

The court heard he returned to the house on April 11 despite bail conditions, acted aggressively and made threats of violence.

Rodger also admitted a series of charges arising from incidents in Larkhall on February 21.

Police discovered he was over the drink limit and, as a provisional licence holder, was driving without a supervised driver and without insurance.

As he was being detained, he shouted abuse and threats, kicked one officer, spat at and tried to bite another and attempted to bite a third officer.

Rodger was banned from driving for a year.
