Larkhall gym application submitted to South Lanarkshire Council

An application has been made to South Lanarkshire Council to develop a gym on the site of a former bingo hall in Larkhall.

The council received the application last month and the applicant has requested to build a leisure facility on King Street.

The former bingo hall has planning permission for two units – this application covers the smaller unit which was originally going to be developed into an office when construction began.

Work is ongoing, but the applicant has reconsidered the original plan following the pandemic and believes there is a drive for improving health and well being.

The gym will have personal training facilities with one-to-one sessions as well as equipment for independent use.

The site where the gym will be built was previously a Regal Bingo Hall which was demolished in 2019.

The application was validated on May 4 and the deadline for determination is July 26.
