Larkhall flat track racer Iain Harrison aims for double title win next year

Larkhall flat track racer Iain Harrison has set himself a twin title target next season as he homes in on this year’s indoor championships.

Harrison, 23, leads the indoor series by a point with two rounds to go, after taking first place in Lincoln last month.

Dad, Iain snr, who is race manager, says his son was a late starter, but is making steady progress in a sport that involves racing 300lb bikes around a flat oval racetrack at speeds often exceeding 120mph, going into 180 degree corners.

Iain, snr, said: “I’ve been on bikes all my life but Iain started late, at 16, and he’s only just started to win things.

“Next year we’re going for the Scottish Twinshock Championships and the British Flat Track Championships.

“He has plenty of ability but has also been putting a lot into it.

“I don’t get nervous because he’s not reckless. He does go for it, because you need to if you want to win.”
