A heartbroken mother has hailed her 'darling son' after his 'tragic and sudden loss' following a 'disturbance' in a Scots town last week.
A man has been arrested in connection with the death David Devine, from Bellshill, after the 40-year-old was found with serious injuries in a house on Glen Avenue in Larkhall, Lanarkshire on August 20.
He was rushed to the hospital for treatment by medics.
Police have named him as David Devine from Bellshill and tragically confirmed he died on Sunday from his injuries.
A police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident was launched with officers following a ‘positive line of enquiry’.
Officers remained at the property near Robert Smillie Memorial Primary School the next day.
A 49-year-old man has since been arrested and charged in connection with the death.
David's mother said: "We are in deep mourning because of the tragic and sudden loss of my darling son. I sincerely request that our privacy is respected at this time.
A statement from Lanarkshire police division this evening reads: "A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a 40-year-old man in Larkhall.
"About 10.30pm on Friday, 20 August, emergency services were called to a report of a man being injured in the Glen Avenue area of Larkhall.
"He was taken to the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Clydebank and died on Sunday, 29 August.
"A 49-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death.
"A report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and he was due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 31 August, 2021."
