Larkhall Christmas Market returns to the town this weekend

Larkhall will be full of festive cheer this weekend as the much-anticipated Christmas market and lights switch on event returns to the town.

Taking place on Sunday, December 4, the event will run from 2pm to 7pm on the town's Union Street, with the lights being officially turned on at 5.30pm.

The event attracts hundreds of people from Larkhall and surrounding areas and is expected to be a huge success with dozens of stalls, raffles, fair rides, performances, festive food and drink, a visit from Santa and lots more.

And the entire day will be hosted by 106.8FM's Adam Hunt.

A spokesperson for Larkhall Gala Day and Christmas Fundraiser Committee told Lanarkshire Live : "Join us for the biggest event of 2022, our festive and fun Christmas market when we shall light up the town with hundreds of sparkling lights.

"The road will be closed off from 8am till 9pm to allow the market to take place.

"The market itself will run from 2pm till 7pm and we will have lots going on - over 40 stalls, funfair rides, Santa's grotto, play area for under 5's, stage with local acts including singers, dancers, drama clubs and much more, bungee trampolines, food vans and a licensed bar.

"The Christmas light switch on will take place at 5.30pm and are being switched on by two very special little girls - two-year-old Layla Gillespie, and four-year-old Nova Gibney.

"Both girls are recovering from forms of cancer and have been through such a horrible time over the last few years so are taking to the stage to do this special task.

"We hope they get lots of support from the local people.

"We look forward to welcoming you all."
