Lark Lane filming for new Martin Freeman BBC drama series The Responder

A new BBC Two comedy-drama is set to start filming on Lark Lane in February 2021.

The Liverpool based drama, called The Responder, is a six-part series written by ex-Merseyside police officer Tony Schumacher.

Award winning actor Martin Freeman, known for roles in hit shows and movies including The Office, The Hobbit, Hot Fuzz and Sherlock, will star as the main character Tony in the drama.

Based on Tony's real experiences on the job, Martin Freeman will play an officer on the beat in Liverpool, who is tasked with six night shifts.

According to a letter sent from producers Dancing Ledge Productions and the BBC, one of the first filming locations will be at a Lark Lane shop and surrounding properties.

"Please be rest assured your safety if paramount when we look at our plans for filming. We will be working to very stringent National Industry Covid guidelines and procedures.

"This includes, but not limited to, daily health checks and surveillance, dedicated covid supervisors, medics on set, regular testing for cast, crew and background artists and maintaining 2m distance between ourselves and residents at all times."

The filming is set to take place between February 22 and March 22 for one or two days.

Location managers for the production have asked for members of the public not to attend the set due to the pandemic.

The letter adds: "We are excited to be filming in Liverpool at this time, however due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, we would respectfully ask people not to come or gather at the location to watch the filming.

"Please stay home, stay sage and enjoy the production on its release."
