A Nottingham healthcare centre - believed to be the largest of its kind in the country - has scooped a top award.
The Cripps Health Centre, based at the University of Nottingham’s Park campus at the top of Cripps Hill, was named the Best Inclusive Building in the region.
CPMG Architects, who designed the centre, were recognised by the Local Authority Building Control for delivering an exceptional public service and educational building that is inclusive of all fundamental healthcare services, having a positive impact on students and the community.
The centre opened in September 2018 and has 45,000 patients registered. It replaced the original smaller practice, which opened in 1969. Although it is on the university campus, it also serves people from the wider community.
Services include health and dental care and patients can also access facilities for minor operations, physiotherapy, treatment rooms and a pharmacy.
Nick Gregory, director for CPMG said: “The Cripps Health Centre has allowed us to showcase our healthcare expertise and the creation of an inclusive environment was central to the brief. The facility is responsive to the needs of all users and the design has created an environment where diversity can be acknowledged and respected.”
He added: “This award is a testament to the hard work put in by all the team, and we look forward to the project competing for a national award later in the year.”
The East Midlands Building Excellence Awards 2019 were held on Friday, May 17 at Athena in Leicester.
