'Largest ever' fireworks display planned for Ayrshire

Plans are afoot to bring a huge fireworks display to Irvine Moor just before Bonfire Night.

A Facebook page called Irvine Firework Extravaganza has been set up by Thomsons Event Group, who recently put on a funfair in nearby Kilmarnock.

A post on their page states: “The Irvine Moor will play host to a special Fireworks Extravanganza on Friday, November 1.

“The event starts at 4pm and will include live entertainment, a massive funfair and the largest ever fireworks display in Ayrshire.

“It all takes place at the Irvine Moor and will finish up around 10pm at night.

“People under one metre tall get in free. And admission is just £2 for adults and teenagers.”

On Monday a spokesman for North Ayrshire Council confirmed they were aware of the plans and added: “We received an application and it is being considered at licensing committee on Wednesday (October 23).”
