A new and bigger Lidl supermarket is coming to Lanark, creating a 10 jobs.
The new store, which is currently being fitted out, will be on Braidfute retail park and is set to replace the existing shop on Castlegate Road.
This new Lidl will offer a wider range of produce and will have a sales area of 1050 sq m. It will also feature an in-store bakery, longer-style tills, self-checkouts and a large car park. And in preparation for the Scottish Government’s Deposit Return Scheme rollout in July 2022, the store will also have a money-back recycling station.
Lidl is working with construction firm Dickie & Moore to fit out the store which will retain the existing employees from the Castlegate Road store and create up to 10 new jobs. The work is expected to take four months, with a view to opening the store in the summer.
Gordon Rafferty, Lidl GB’s regional head of property, told Lanarkshire Live: “We are extremely grateful for all the support that we have received so far, and we would like to thank all of the local residents for their patience and understanding as we prepare the new unit.
"It is great for us to be able to invest in Lanark and occupy a long vacant unit whilst delivering an even greater range and an enhanced customer experience to even more of the local community that meets all their needs.”
