Large traveller camp pitches up on Durdham Down

A group of travellers have set up camp on Durdham Down.

Pictures taken this afternoon show at least seven caravans and several cars on the grassy area next to the White Tree roundabout.

But a nearby resident claims there are as many as 11 caravans.

The camp is close to the Funderworld amusement park, which recently returned to Durdham Down for its third season.

Durdham Down is public land owned by Bristol City Council, popular with walkers, joggers and kite-flyers.

Bristol Live has approached the council for comment on the camp.
