Witnesses have reported a significant search and rescue effort taking place over the Potomac River following a tragic incident involving a passenger plane and a US Army helicopter. Eyewitness accounts describe a scene filled with helicopters scouring the air, boats combing the water, and ground police units actively involved in the operation.

One witness, Ashlyn Finch, shared on social media the intense activity in the area, noting the overpowering smell of fuel lingering in the air. Video footage captured by Washington, DC resident Roy Best showcases the extensive presence of rescue services at the site of the collision.

Best, a federal employee who was on the rooftop of his building near the airport at the time of the incident, recounted the moment of impact. He described hearing a loud noise, followed by a bright spark and an object falling from the sky. Due to the darkness of the night, Best initially struggled to discern the nature of the falling object, unsure if it was a firecracker or something else.

Observing the ongoing rescue operations from his vantage point on the rooftop, Best mentioned that the darkness hindered his ability to provide a detailed account of the activities being carried out by the rescue teams.
