Large scale emergency exercise to take place at Prestwick Airport

A large scale emergency exercise is to take place at Prestwick Airport over the next two days.

Police Scotland, in conjunction with other emergency services, is participating in a live play exercise today and tomorrow.

They will test the multi-agency response to a major incident.

The public have been urged not to be alarmed by the increased activity around the airport.

A spokesman said: "Exercises are carried out routinely by emergency response organisations and local organisations to ensure that appropriate response mechanisms are in place.

"There may be increased activity from the emergency services in and around the area of the airport and Prestwick, but this should not impact on the local community or any operational activity of the emergency services."
