Retail park near Dublin Airport and large residential area of Swords to be without water until tonight after mains bursts

A large area of Swords in north Dublin will be without water until around 5 o'clock this evening, Fingal County Council has warned residents.

All of Boroimhe and surrounding areas as well as most of Airside's retail, motor and business parks near Dublin Airport are affected, the local authority says.

An alert on the council's website says: "Water outage in Swords, Tuesday 17 November 2020 to carry out emergency repairs to a burst water main - Water off until 5pm this afternoon (approx.)."

The local authority added that due to complications at the scene of the burst main, it was deemed necessary to extend both the length of time the water will be off and the areas affected by the outage.

The area affected is larger than previously thought and the timeframe for the outage has been pushed back two hours (Fingal County Council)

Here's a full breakdown of the areas affected:

  • All of Boroimhe,
  • Airside Motor Park,
  • Airside Retail Park,
  • Airside Business Park,
  • And surrounding area.

Fingall told residents that it regretted any inconvenience caused by this disruption, adding that Irish Water "is aware of the outage".
