Large police presence reported in Govanhill following shop theft

Govanhill residents reported a large police presence last night after a local shop was targeted by a thief.

Officers arrived on the scene on Allison Street after receiving a call about at around 8:20pm.

According to local reports, a shopkeeper was physically threatened by a man in a group following a theft from the store.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Around 8.20 pm on Tuesday 9 April 2019, police were called to a report of a theft at a shop on Allison Street, Glasgow.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
