Large police presence on Rhondda mountain in search for missing man

A large police presence was spotted on a Rhondda mountain after a man was reported missing.

On Sunday afternoon officers were seen scaling a mountainside near Trebanog.

An eye-witness said: "A police helicopter has landed and several officers are scaling the mountain."

A police helicopter was used to find a 36-year-old man who was later detained by two police officers.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: "A 36-year-old local man who had been reported missing at 1.30pm was located on the mountain side above Trebanog at around 4.15pm."

A tweet by the National Police Air Service south west region said: "Good to work with @swpRCT today in locating a missing person in Trebanog. Operational landing conducted and the two police officers on board exited the aircraft to detain the male with @swpRCT."
