A 'violent' wanted man has been tracked down and arrested during dramatic scenes in Wythenshawe .
At least two police cars and two police vans were at the scene on Oatlands Road at around 4pm on Saturday afternoon.
A police spokesperson said several officers were required to make the arrest because the suspect was acting 'violently'.
The man - who has not been identified - was wanted on warrant for a theft charge.
He has now been arrested after police detained him.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police have arrested a violent person at the scene. He was acting violently so more police patrols had to be called.
"The arrest took place on Oatlands Road at around 4 o'clock this afternoon.
"He has been arrested for theft and has been wanted on a warrant."
