A woman suffered a head injury following an assault in Oldham on Thursday.
Police rushed to the scene following reports of an attack on Cheltenham Street in Derker at 9.40pm.
The victim was treated for a 'laceration to the head'.
Police did not confirm whether she was taken to hospital.
It is unclear what weapon was used as this stage, a GMP spokeswoman said.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.
Police did not confirm the age of the suspect.
A spokeswoman said: "We were called at 9.40pm. A female reported an assault. She has a laceration to her head.
"Ambulance crews are at the scene. One male has been detained on suspicion of assault."
Photos from the scene showed a number of ambulance and police vehicles on the street in the aftermath of the incident.
