'Large plume of smoke and fire' in Nottinghamshire near where miniature donkeys live

Fire crews were called to a large fire near where miniature donkeys live. It comes after reports of a large plume of smoke and fire on Nottingham Road in Trowell Moor.

Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after 8pm on Sunday evening (April 10) after reports. Crews from Stapleford and Highfields Fire Stations attended, using main hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, the emergency service confirmed. A spokesperson for the fire service said the incident took place on a site near the Swancar Country House, at a location "being transformed in to a miniature donkey sanctuary".

Luckily, no animals have been harmed and the venue in the area was not affected by the blaze. The fire crews left the scene just after 9pm, the fire service confirmed.
