Large numbers of police in Werneth Park after woman's body discovered

The body of a woman has been discovered in a park in Oldham.

Police were called to the discovery of a body in Werneth Park in the early hours of this morning.

Officers attended and found the body of a woman, believed to be in her 40s.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a filed will be passed to the coroner.

The identity of the woman has not been revealed by Greater Manchester Police.

Residents in the area described a large police presence at the park this morning.

A spokesman for GMP said: "Police responded at around 1.25am this morning (Tuesday 30 June 2020) following the discovery of the body of a woman in Werneth park, Oldham.

"Officers attended and sadly found the body of a woman believed to be in her 40s.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a file will be passed to the coroner."
