Large manhunt launched - including helicopter - after 'wanted man' spotted

A suspected wanted man evaded a helicopter and officers searching on the ground yesterday evening.

Avon and Somerset Police officers on patrol spotted the man at about 8pm on Tuesday (June 1).

Officers believed the suspect headed into St Annes Wood in Brislington.

Police on the ground were supported by a helicopter from the National Police Air Service in order to search the area.

The aircraft was seen by onlookers hovering over the Troopers Hill and River Avon area for around half an hour.

However, the force has since confirmed that they were unable to find the suspect.
