'Large machete' found as burglary suspect arrested

South Wales Police have arrested a male in Bridgend suspected of several burglaries. He was apprehended by PC Chris Thomas and Sergeant Huish yesterday (Wednesday August 4) after "previously evading officers", say police.

A large machete was also found at his home address, say police. He was also arrested on suspicion of having possession of the weapon.

Officers later tweeted: "A male wanted for several burglaries was arrested after previously evading officers. A large machete was found at his home address and he was arrested for that also."

The term "offensive weapon" is defined as "any article made or adapted for use to causing injury to the person, or intended by the person having it with him for such use". The following have been held to be offensive weapons per se because they do not have any innocent quality: machete, sword, flick knife and truncheon.
