Large hole opens in busy road after water pipe bursts in East Leake

A large hole has opened up in the middle of a Nottinghamshire village's busiest road after a water pipe burst.

The hole has been fenced off by Severn Trent Water workers after the pipe burst in Main Street, East Leake.

There are no water supply problems being reported for residents, the company said.

It has apologised for the disruption caused as residents said the issue caused traffic problems.

A Severn Trent spokesperson added: “We’re really sorry for any disruption caused by our work on Main Street in East Leake.

"We’ve been out and investigated a burst pipe that’s not causing any supply problems, but we need to return with traffic management in order to carry out the repair safely.

"We’re aiming to start the repair this week, and then we will work on putting the road back to normal.

"Again, we’re sorry for the inconvenience caused, but it will be our priority to fix the pipe, and get the road back to it’s original condition as soon as we can.”
