Large fight involving 'up to 30 boys' in Cardiff sees teen taken to hospital

A 14-year-old teenager was hospitalised following fight involving a large group of teenage boys in Cardiff.

Police were called to an incident in Sanatorium Road, Canton, at around 5.10pm on Tuesday following reports from concerned residents who witnessed the attack.

A witness, who did not wished to be named, said there was between 20-30 teenage boys involved in the fight which spilled into Sanatorium Park behind the New Mill estate.

They said: "Three boys were jumped and attacked with belts and stamped on. Residents had to save one boy.

"The was a lot of police presence in the area. The estate is experiencing a lot of anti-social behaviour which has increased during the lockdown."

A South Wales Police spokesman confirmed the force is investigating the incident.

He said: "Officers attended Sanatorium Road at around 5.10pm yesterday to a report of a fight involving a large group of teenage boys.
"A 14-year-old boy had a cut to his head and was taken to the University Hospital of Wales.

Enquiries are on-going into the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact us on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting occurrence number *182793.
