Large emergency services response in north Manchester after pedestrian hit by vehicle on Oldham Road

One of the major roads in north Manchester has been closed tonight after pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.

Police were called to reports of a crash on Oldham Road at the junction with Naylor Street in Miles Platting just after 7pm this evening (Wednesday).

On arrival, officers found that a person had been hit by a vehicle a Greater Manchester Police (GMP) spokesman said.

No other details about the casualty or the severity of their condition have been released.

There was a large emergency service response including numerous paramedic vehicles, one being an air ambulance service road vehicle, as well as police.

Traffic has been stopped with a cordon put in place whilst officers deal with the aftermath and carry out enquiries.

The road remains closed outbound, heading away from the city centre, between Butler Street and Fir Street.

Traffic is being diverted down Butler Street, Bradford Road and Alan Turing Way.

A GMP spokesman said: “At 19.05pm police were called to the junction of Naylor St and Oldham Road to reports of a road traffic collision.

“Upon arrival officers found that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

“A scene is currently in place and the investigation is ongoing."
