'Large disturbance' at Kelvingrove Park as police deal with bank holiday chaos

Police dealt with a "large scale disturbance" in Kelvingrove Park earlier this evening after patrols were stepped up for Easter weekend.

Thousands of youngsters were reported to have taken to the west end park to soak up the sunshine as temperatures soared.

Around 25 to 30 males are believed to have been involved, according to the Daily Record.

The incident happened around 4.30pm.

Police to ramp up patrols at Kelvingrove Park over the Easter weekend

A police helicopter could be seen overhead with several vans and police horses also in the park.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "At around 4.30pm, officers were called to a disturbance involving a large number of people in Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow.

"Emergency services are currently in attendance."

The spokesperson also confirmed that at least one arrest has been made.

As reported by Glasgow Live earlier, Police Scotland announced they will have extra patrols at Kelvingrove Park all weekend.

More officers will be in the area in anticipation of crowds flocking to enjoy the scorching weather over the Bank Holiday.

The temperature is set to peak around 19C over the next few days – though Saturday and Sunday are expected to be cloudier. Monday (still a holiday for some) shows clear skies and lots of sunshine.
