Large cordon in place after man was rescued from bungalow blaze in Middleton

A man has been rescued from a bungalow fire this evening (January 10).

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) were called around 8.40pm to a fire at a bungalow on Weavers Road, Middleton, close to the town centre.

Three fire engines attended with firefighters rescuing one man who is now receiving treatment from the ambulance service.

Fire crews remain at the scene with neighbouring properties also being checked for smoke spread.

A GMFRS spokesman said: "At approximately 8:40pm this evening (Monday 10 January), we received reports of a fire at a bungalow on Weavers Road, Middleton.

“Three fire engines from Blackley, Chadderton and Heywood fire stations quickly attended the scene and firefighters rescued one man who is receiving treatment from North West Ambulance Service.

“Ventilation is in progress and adjacent properties are being checked for smoke spread.

“Crews remain on the scene.”
