Large cordon in place after man and woman stabbed during 'fight'

A man and a woman were stabbed during a fight this afternoon (January 11).

Police were called just after 4pm to Astley Street, Dukinfield, to reports of a fight involving knives.

A cordon is currently in place on Brunswick Street, off Astley Street, with residents reporting seeing more than a dozen police and ambulance vehicles in the area.

Two people have been stabbed - a man and a woman - according to police.

Both have been taken to hospital, however, their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

No arrests have currently been made.

A GMP spokesman said: "Police were called at around 4.05pm today (11 January) to Astley Street, Dukinfield to a report of a fight involving knives.

"Emergency services are currently in attendance and enquiries have since established two people, a man and a woman, had been stabbed.

"They have both been taken to hospital but their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

"Enquiries are ongoing and a scene is in place.

"No arrests have been made."
