Large cannabis farm found in an old pub near Abertillery

Gwent Police raided an old pub in Blaenau Gwent and found a large cannabis farm inside.

The former boozer, in Alexandra Road, Six Bells, near Abertillery, had numerous of rows of cannabis plants being grown under artificial lighting, along with large cuttings of cannabis buds that had been hung up to dry.

The discovery, which was made on February 1, comes just months after another cannabis factory was uncovered by police at a derelict building in nearby Somerset Street, Abertillery, in November.

Local councillor Julie Holt praised the work of police for uncovering the cannabis factory.

She said: "It's good to see that the police are finding these sorts of places and shutting them down, ultimately taking drugs off our streets in Blaenau Gwent, so we were very happy to hear this news."

Gwent Police has yet to make any arrests following the raid but a force spokesman said "enquiries are ongoing".

Anyone with any information is urged to call 101 quoting reference 2100036850.
