'Large blaze' breaks out at recycling centre near Scottish airport

A "LARGE blaze" has broken out at a recycling centre near Dundee Airport.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said it is currently on the scene of a blaze affecting a large area within a recycling centre on Wright Avenue, in Dundee.

Fire crews were called to the scene after 4am on Friday, with three fire appliances in attendance.

Due to levels of smoke in the area, residents in Dundee, Newport, and Tayport have been advised to keep windows and doors closed.

The SFRS confirmed there were no reported casualties.

A SFRS spokesperson said: "We are on the scene at a fire affecting a large area within a recycling centre on Wright Avenue, Dundee.

“Due to levels of smoke in the area, residents in Dundee, Newport and Tayport are advised to keep windows and doors closed.

"We have three fire appliances in attendance and firefighters are working to extinguish the fire.

“There are no reported casualties."
