Large 999 response after report of woman being attacked in her own home

Police and paramedics turned out in force in Prestwich after reports a woman had been attacked in her own home.

Eight police vehicles and an ambulance were called to the address on Tuesday morning.

In a statement Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called by the ambulance service to a report of an assault at a property in Heywood Gardens, Prestwich at around 10.15am on Tuesday 21 July 2020.

"A man aged 50 has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

"He remains in custody for questioning. Enquiries are ongoing."

One eye witness said: "The police turned up in numbers and we saw someone get arrested. Scenes of crime officers were then at the house for several hours."
