Lara Trump: President's daughter-in-law warns 2020 rivals to wait until 2024

Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law is warning the president’s from competing in the 2020 election, casting any effort as a waste of money.

Lara Trump — who's husband is Eric Trump — told Sky News in an interview that she is not worried anyone would beat her father-in-law, and that she does not understand why anyone would try.

“Honestly, I am not worried about anybody that has gotten into the race, and I do believe that Donald Trump is going to win by more in 2020 than he did in 2016,” she said. “I think the reality is it will be so stupid for people to spend their money, to waste their money and time and effort right now, to try and run against him.”

She continued: “I actually don't understand why there are so many people that have gotten in the race on the Democrat side. I always want to tell them - wait until 2024. Wait till he's out. You're not going to beat Donald Trump.”

A burgeoning field of Democratic challengers has formed to compete amongst themselves in order to have a chance to take on Mr Trump in 2020.

Among those candidates are Senator Bernie Sanders, who ran in 2016 but failed to clinch the Democratic nomination.

Mr Sanders is seen as a leading contender to win the nomination, but Ms Trump said she is not concerned with the progressive wave he embodies.

“Some of the policies he wants to implement would cause us to move in a direction like Venezuela and that is very scary to people,” she said.
