'Laptop delivered to vacant plot, LinkedIn not found, number doesn't exist': Uber recruiter claims new hire vanished with Macbook

A dramatic social media post by a recruiter has caught the internet's attention after he claimed that a candidate disappeared on the very day he was supposed to join the company, leaving behind unanswered questions and a missing laptop. The post, shared by Raghu Tenneti, a recruiter at Uber, quickly went viral as users reacted to what sounded more like a spy thriller than a hiring mishap.

A Candidate Who Didn't Just Ghost

Candidate no-shows are not uncommon in the hiring world. Recruiters often deal with applicants who accept offers and then stop responding before their joining date. However, Tenneti suggested this case was very different.

In his post, he wrote: "Candidate ghosting on joining day is not something new today. But this guy didn't ghost us. He vanished from existence."

According to the recruiter, attempts to contact the candidate led nowhere.

'This Number Does Not Exist'

Tenneti claimed that when the team tried calling the candidate, they encountered an unusual response. "Called his number. 'This number does not exist.' Not switched off. Not unreachable. Does not exist. Bro didn't block us. He erased himself from the telecom grid."

The statement immediately drew attention online, with many users questioning whether the story was real or written in a humorous, exaggerated style.
